I like to photograph attentively and with as little interference as possible, in reportage style: catching moments as they come, as far as that can be done. Working this way is a real pleasure for me — it goes deeper, and it stays true.

My technical grounding also comes from wildlife and performance photography. What I look for is the fleeting expression, the quiet glance, the understanding between two people — everything that makes the volatile emotions of a day like this feel alive and real.

I feel like a privileged spectator, let into a delicate intimacy that few are given. I firmly believe this work matters — enough to leave a trace of something singular, something wonderful.

A wedding, to me, is a singular event where what matters most is the wellbeing of the couple, and the willingness to support them through whatever comes up, large or small, with real attention to the human side of everyone taking part. That attention comes from my own disposition, and from the school of social reportage I come out of.
